SENIOR PROGRAMMING  FALL 2004

The Senior Trips are sponsored by the Alger Parks & Recreation Department and the Commission on Aging.

Lunch and a Movie – Thursdays – Cost: $15 – Time:  10 am. – 5 pm.

8 September 2004  deadline to register for the The Agawa Canyon Tour Train and for the Mackinac City – Center Stage – Guys on Ice

9 September 2004:   This month brings us to Presque Isle with a pasty picnic to enjoy the outdoors before going inside to see a great movie.

14 October 2004:  Everyone’s favorite – Memories.

11 November 2004:  Something new – Vangos.

9 December 2004:  Something new again – Whiskers.

Special Trips:

Mackinac City – Center Stage – Guys on Ice

This trip is back by popular demand.  Enjoy a day of fun, shopping and great entertainment.   This year’s show is new and sounds like a great show.  We plan to leave early to allow time to browse the many shops within the Crossings.  Lunch  on your own before the show.  Dinner will be at Audie’s after the show.   Showtime is at 3 pm.   

When:  Tuesday, 21 September 2004.

Time:     8 am. – approx. 9:00 pm.

Cost:      $40 – price includes show ticket and transportation.  Meals on your own.

Deadline for Registration & Payment:  8 September 2004.


The Agawa Canyon Tour Train

All aboard for an overnight excursion into Soo, Canada for a train adventure into the heart of the Canadian wilderness.  This one day rail trip will take us 114 miles north of Sault Ste. Marie, over towering trestle, alongside pristine northern lakes and rivers, and through awesome granite rock formations and mixed forests of the Canadian Shield.   We will ride in a comfortable coach to view the beautiful landscape.  We will have a two hour stop at the Canyon to enjoy the beauty up close.   We need your commitment – registration and payment by 8 September 2004 to ensure our travel arrangements.  Tentative plans are to use the Kewadin Coach and Lodging accommodations.

When:  Looking at Sept. 29 & 30, 2004

Time:    10:00 am. September 29

               Early morning train on September 30 – 7:30 am. – 5:30 pm.

               Arrive in Munising approximately 10:00 pm. Sept. 30.

Cost:    Still working on the final details –call our office by Sept. 3rd for final cost.


ADULT EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS

Computer Classes:

We would like to expand on our computer classes that we offered this past spring.  As we do this more, we learn how to improve upon our offerings.   We plan to offer separate classes and sessions.  Beginners, intermediate, advanced computer, Excel. Internet.  You can pick the one area that you need or start at your level of expertise and work up.  Remember, we are here for your needs, please let us know what you want.

When:  October – November

Plans to be finalized.  Please let us know your interest to help us plan accordingly.

Conversational French:

Anyone have an interest in learning conversational French?  We have an instructor that would love to teach us the basics of French.  Before making all the plans we would like to know if there is an interest.  Please call today to let us know.


FAMILY FUN

 Week-End Movies

Do you remember back in the day when Munising had the Delft Theatre?  Well, we do and we would like to get a movie house back in town.   Everything is coming together so it looks like we could be showing week-end movies soon.   Watch for more details in the upcoming Munising News. 


REGISTRATION INFORMATION

All participants are required to register for the desired programs BEFORE they begin.  Registration includes payment and a completed registration form.  **Names will not be added to the roster without full payment**  Some activities require deadline payments for reservation plans.

Programs are non-refundable.  In the event that APRD needs to cancel a program, you will be contacted and given the option of a full refund or program credit.  We need a minimum amount of participants to offer each class.

All passes and registrations are valid during the current session only.
