Youth Programming-Fall 2004


YOUTH FLAG FOOTBALL

Fall means football and we are pleased to offer the 10th year of our Flag Football League.  This is an opportunity for girls and boys grades K-6 to have a great time playing football in a fun, supportive, and safe environment.  Youth are divided into two separate divisions based on grade level.  ALL LEVELS of play are welcome.  Youth will be placed on sponsored teams by APRD.  All youth registered will receive a team T-Shirt.    

REGISTRATION DEADLINE:  Friday, August 27, 2004 at 5:00 pm.  Late registrations will be accepted.

Where:  Browns Addition Ball Field      Monday & Tuesdays

Ages:  Grades K – 2 Play on Mondays, September 13, 20, 27, October 4, 11, & 18       Games at 5:30 pm & 6:30 pm

            Grades 3 – 6 Play on Tuesdays, September 14, 21, 28, October 5, 12, 1& 19      Games at 5:30 pm & 6:30 pm

Cost:   $20 per child-Late Registration Fee after 8/27/04


GYMNASTIC TUMBLING

All classes are held in the Central School Gym

Session I:  Thursdays – Sept. 23, 30,

Oct. 7, 14, 21, 28, Nov. 4, 11, 2004

Session II: Starts in January 2005      

Session III:  Starts in March 2005

Tumblebugs-

This class focuses on the development of gross motor skills, coordination, balance and gives little ones a chance to socialize with other children their own age.  Low level tumbling skills will be introduced at this level.  Class designed for tots ages 2 & 3 years.  Maximum of 8 students.  The instructor will access each child’s ability and may put them in a different class.

Day/Time:     Thursday/6:00 pm – 6:45 pm                    Cost:                     $35 per child

 

Kinderbugs-

Tumblers will be involved in a wide range of activity to promote safe learning in the exciting sport of tumbling.  All tumbling classes stay on the floor with the progressive use of a balance beam.  Class is designed for children ages 4 – 6 years.  Instructor will access each child’s  ability and may put them in a different class.  Maximum of 8 students per class.

Day/Time:    

Thursday/4:15 pm – 5:00 pm          

 & 5:05 p.m.  – 5:50 p.m.         

Cost:   $35 per child

 

Springers Tumbling-

Tumblers will be involved in a wide range of tumbling/balance beam skills.  All skill levels are welcome and children will be assessed on their first day of class.  Class designed for tumblers ages 7 – 12 years.

Maximum of 10 students per class.

Day/Time:     Thursday/3:10 pm – 4:10 pm                Cost:                        $40 per child

 

Springers Plus-

For Tumblers who would like to put more emphasis on tumbling skills, this class is for you.  Participants will learn important safety aspects of tumbling such as how to spot each other, stretches and more.  All skill levels welcome.  Class is designed for ages 11 and older.  Maximum of 10 students.

Day/Time:     Thursday/6:50 pm – 7:50 pm                 Cost:                       $40 per child


BALLET CLASS:

Alger Parks and Recreation plans to offer ballet training this fall through Instructor Lynne Bolitho from the Marquette Center for Dance.  Ballet training is recognized as one of the most beautiful art forms and also as one of the best forms of physical conditions - for both children and adults-girls and boys.  Ages for this class will be three through adult.  Classes will be arranged by age and/or skill level.  Classes will be offered on Sundays starting 12 September 2004.  Times to be determined upon completion of total class enrollment.   Classes will be held in the upstairs of the Mather Building.

Cost:  Students will be billed per month at a cost of $70. 

Registration Deadline:   September 3, 2004.

Dates:    12 September 2004 through May 2005.

Times:   To be determined after registration completed

Where:  Mather Building – 2nd Floor – North Center Room

 


NO SCHOOL DAYS—WEEK-ENDS:

As always, we are trying to fill your off-time with fun things to do.  We need your input.  Do you still want a Movie Bus on Friday nights?   Do you want an Open Gym night?  A place just to hang out to play some cards, listen to music and hang out? An Intramural Sports League????  You let us know – we will be sending a survey/questionnaire out the first weeks of school to get your ideas or stop in and let us know.
