What is FNP?

FNP is the Family Nutrition Program

The Family Nutrition Program is part of Michigan State University Extension’s Children, Youth an Family programs.

FNP is an free educational program for county residents. (The FNP program does have eligibility requirements. Please call your local County Extension office for more information.)

FNP is brought to you by Michigan State University in cooperation with Michigan Family Independence Agency and the United State Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Services.
 

FNP can help you learn how to:

Þ  Stretch your food dollar
Þ  Improve your Shopping skills
Þ  Make delicious, low cost, quick and easy meals and snacks.
Þ  Add a variety to you diet that can lead to better health.
Þ  Manage your resources.
 

How is FNP presented?

The Family Nutrition Program provides educational opportunities
And experiences that promote healthy nutritional choices:
Ø    To individuals and small groups
Ø    In the home or at other community locations
Ø    As a series of nutritional lessons
Ø    As a presentation, covering one topic
 

 What does the Family Nutrition Program include?

Nutrition and Resource Management education by MSUE trained program associates who utilize:
Ø    Food Demonstrations (we provide the food free)
Ø    Hands-on activities
Ø    Audio/Visual presentations
Ø    Discussion groups
Ø    Research based educational materials
Ø    Outcome based evaluation
ØIndividual participation
Ø    Technology
Ø    Certificate of completion
Ø    A variety of nutrition resources
